Phillips has had a rich and varied history. On this page you can find access to many resources that will help you explore it.

Pioneers and Soldiers Memorial Cemetery

The Minneapolis Pioneers and Soldiers Memorial Cemetery is the oldest existing cemetery in the city of Minneapolis. In June 2002, the cemetery was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The cemetery is located at 2945 Cedar Avenue South (near the intersection of Cedar Avenue and Lake Street). It is currently owned and maintained by the City of Minneapolis.

 

There are over 180 veterans buried in the cemetery. These include veterans of the War of 1812, the Mexican War, the Indian and Civil Wars, the Spanish-American War and World War I. Here you can:

 

Historic preservation
