education

Education is a protean word that means just about what anyone wants it to mean. Nevertheless, it's probably safe to say that Phillips' formal education needs are more complex and far reaching than those of wealthier and more ethnically and culturally homogeneous communities. The truth of this is borne out by the number and variety of educational institutions and programs located in Phillips, and by the fact that the clients of these institutions and programs are adults as well as children. We cannot pretend that the list given below is exhaustive, but we will update it continually as we receive new information.

• English Learning Center - The English Learning Center for Immigrant and Refugee Families provides English as a Second Language (ESL), math, computer skills, and advocacy to immigrant and refugee families in the Phillips Neighborhood and Cedar-Riverside areas for South Minneapolis.
